I am 32 years old, a mother of five children and wife of 9 years. I am a stay at home mom and licensed daycare provider. I am lucky enough to have amazing siblings, although I will probably complain about a couple of them from time to time! I have two older sisters and two younger brothers and I don’t know what I would do without them. My parents are pretty supportive, although I kind of feel like we are just getting to know them on a different level now. I am also blessed with my in-laws. After 9 years of being in their family, I truly feel like we are all one, not different degrees of guests. All together, we make up a pretty diverse group.
I am one that loves a plan, which is ironic because life as I know it is anything but planned! I had my oldest son at 18, a whoops to say the least. My plan to go to college, be independent and financially secure was…bumpy…and still in progress! I finished a 2 year degree and am unsure yet if I will go back and finish my 4 year. It will never be off the table but for now, my life is all about my family. I didn’t really plan on getting married…in fact, my oldest sister likes to laugh about how I nearly opted for the ‘flight’ in fight or flight on the big day. I really didn’t think he would follow through–haha! But I am learning every day that I am blessed with a man who perseveres. Something else that wasn’t too well planned was having our next 4 children in 6 years. And gaining 60 lbs. That really sucked. Sucks. So for now the ‘plan’ is to take it a day at a time, write about the things that make me laugh, cry, angry, and weap with joy.
All together, we are a tribe. A group of people all connected but live all over the country. Some in the city, some in the country, some more clannish than others but all inexplicably connected. My particular tribe are the Barefoot Bohemians. Cause that is what best describes us.
